When garment manufacturers focus on visible elements such as outer fabric, stitching and embellishment, the lining can sometimes receive less attention. Yet it affects how the garment feels when worn, how smoothly it moves and how polished the interior looks. Choosing the right polyester lining fabric is therefore an important part of creating a finished product that feels complete rather than simply covering the internal construction.

The appropriate GSM depends on the garment's requirements. A 52 GSM lining can be ideal when manufacturers want low bulk, easy movement and a lightweight finish. An 85 GSM option can provide more body and a richer feel for premium suits, sherwanis and structured formalwear. Weave selection adds another dimension, with taffeta offering a crisp character and satin or jacquard providing smoother or more decorative finishes. The outer fabric should always remain part of the decision because the lining needs to complement its weight and drape.
